Look inside…

About this book
There are some things most of us can do straight away, like breathing and blinking. Everything else we have to learn! Luckily our brains are brilliant at helping us get really good at doing things. And the best way to learn is by having a go!
Most things take a little practise, but the more time we spend doing them, the better we become. The most important thing is to keep trying and NEVER GIVE UP!
As parents it can be hard to stand back and allow our children to take their time, try things, make mistakes and have another go, but most children are determined to succeed - whether it’s brushing their own teeth, doing up their own coat, or riding a scooter. The best thing we can do as adults is give them the time and space to practise.
I wonder which things YOU can do BY YOURSELF?
With a diverse cast of characters, every child will find someone like themselves in this uplifting story!
Reviews…
“This book beautifully captures the journey as young children learn – often with hilariously chaotic and disruptive consequences – to do things for themselves. Parents won’t be able to suppress their own smiles of recognition at the pained expressions of the grown-up characters, as they try to keep up with their little explorers and clean up behind them. ”
“Possibly the most relatable title EVER!”
“We’ve read this so many times...Thea loved looking through at the wonderful illustrations seeing things she could do herself and which she’d like to try. Adults will be amused by the illustrations of the frazzled parents in the background. So relatable!”
“As a reception teacher my everyday life is filled with these moments, and reading this story to my class last week lead to many lovely discussions about what they are good at doing by themselves and what they could get better at. Perfect for our work on setting simple goals. Fantastic.”
“Never underestimate your little ones as they are striving to be independent. With all the fun of the words and images domes an important message that children ned to be allowed to attempt things by themselves whilst we are waiting in the wings to guide and support them.”
“A brilliantly funny celebration of learning how to do things by yourself for the first time - and we don’t need any help, thank you very much!”
