Harry Woodgate
Harry Woodgate (pronouns: they/them) is an award-winning author and illustrator who has worked with clients including National Book Tokens, Google, The Sunday Times Magazine, Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Walker Books, Andersen Press, Bloomsbury, The Washington Post and Penguin Random House. Their books include Grandad's Camper, Timid, Little Glow, Shine Like The Stars, My First Baking Book, The Very Merry Murder Club and the My Small World series.
Grandad's Camper, their debut author-illustrator title, won Children’s Illustrated Book of the Year at the prestigious British Book Awards, 2023, as well as Waterstones Children’s Book Prize for Best Illustrated Book, 2022 AND a Stonewall Book Award Honour from the American Library Association.
It was also shortlisted for the inaugural Polari Children's & YA Prize 2022 and nominated for the CILIP Yoto Kate Greenaway Award, and was well-reviewed by Kirkus Reviews, School Library Journal, The Bookseller, The Guardian, Times Literary Supplement and many others.
Harry is passionate about writing and illustrating diverse, inclusive stories that inspire children to be inquisitive, creative, kind and proud of what makes them unique. When not illustrating or writing, they love writing music, cycling, baking, exploring independent coffee shops and bookstores, and discovering interesting facts about the world around them.
