Kristina Stephenson
Kristina Stephenson trained as a set and costume designer and worked in the theatre for many years. Secretly she wanted to be an actress but she was much too shy. She moved into television specialising in pre-school children’s programming and even made her own storytelling programme for Channel 4.
It was when Kristina had her own children that she turned her hand to illustration - working from an attic in London (it was a very nice attic). She illustrated lots of books for other people before starting to write her own stories - the first being Sir Charlie Stinky Socks - which she did in an old VW camper van called BRU.
She now lives in Wiltshire with her musician husband, two grown up(ish) children, two dogs, two cats, a tortoise and a hamster. Bru is still going strong but there’s no attic in her house. So Kristina now writes and illustrates her own stories, and draws the pictures for other people’s books, wherever she can.
