Tom McLaughlin
Tom writes and illustrates picture books and young fiction including the hugely popular The Accidental Prime Minister, The Diabolical Mr Tiddles and the beautiful Up Up and Away! The thing Tom loves best about being an illustrator is seeing how stories can go from an idea to a finished book in a book shop. He says, "Each journey is completely different but one that never gets boring." Tom says he started drawing because it was the only thing he was good at at school: "Suddenly, I felt very clever and it made people notice me, so I worked hard at it all the time."
When he was growing up, Tom used to have a collection of hats. His favourite was a top hat, which he used to wear with a bow tie while watching snooker on television! Tom lives in Devon with his wife and children.
