Look inside…
About this book
There once was a rhino who lived at the zoo.
“I’m lonely,” thought Sidney. “There’s nothing to do!”
So early one morning he squeezed through the bars
and tiptoes away past the slumbering guards.
When Sidney the rhino escapes from the zoo, he soon finds a delicious plum pie to tuck into. Unfortunately it belongs to Farmer Potts.
Spotting a pig nosing at the ground, Farmer Pots thinks he’s found the culprit. “No-one else has come by so it must have been you!”
When the pig denies involvement, Farmer Potts cries:
Rhino? What Rhino?
That cannot be true
There’s only one rhino
And he’s in the zoo!
After the horse and the sheep also get blamed for Sidney’s wrong-doing, they take matters into their own hands and, in a nod to Animal Farm, meet at the back of the shed to discuss what to do.
Will Sidney say sorry and make amends?
The jaunty rhyme and repeated refrains this raucous story is great for reading out loud and joining in, with an underlying message of saying sorry and making amends. Great fun!
Say Sorry Sidney was first published in 2009 as Rhino? What Rhino?
